Prepare Dinner in Record Time

After a long day at work, it pays to have a stocked pantry. So don't stress when the kids are asking, "what's for dinner?" Here's how to make the most of your pantry ingredients while making health a priority. Here's what can work. Instead of pulling out a box of prepared mac-n-cheese, you'll be happy to find out making your own is so easy. Cook and drain a box of short pasta. In a large saucepan combine a spoonful of olive oil, ¾ cup of milk, a cup of shredded cheddar cheese, a tsp of dry mustard, garlic powder, salt and pepper to taste. S
Stir it constantly to prevent it from burning and then enjoy it on top of your pasta. Another quick and healthy meal that will satisfy everyone is a Mexican-inspired bean soup with pasta in it. Check your pantry, does it have diced tomatoes and black beans? That's a good start. Sautee onions, then add diced tomatoes, canned black beans, frozen corn, a frozen veggie blend (preferably with peppers), a can of green chilies and some cumin and chipolte powder. When it's ready, add the precooked pasta and enjoy. With a little forethought when shopping, you can eat healthy home cooked meals each night with your family without losing much time cooking.
